About Hirano Shrine

Hirano Shrine, founded in 794 along with the capital, is an ancient Shinto shrine with deep imperial connections, once serving as a guardian of the Imperial Palace. It is dedicated to the gods of the imperial kitchen oven. The shrine is most famous for its spectacular and extensive cherry blossom garden, which features approximately 400 trees of 60 different varieties, some of which are rare and unique to the shrine. This diversity allows for an unusually long blooming season from mid-March to late April.
